TONTITOWN, Ark. (AP) - Tontitown’s recorder-treasurer has been arrested on suspicion of theft after Washington County deputies closed City Hall and investigated the city’s bookkeeping records.

According to an affidavit released by the prosecutor, 32-year-old Alicia Marie Collins was arrested Thursday in connection with a theft of property valued at more than $25,000, and the theft of services valued at more than $1,000. The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1AsFYBI ) reports that Collins will be booked into Washington County Detention Center on Thursday.

Alderman Joe Edgmon said City Hall was closed when he tried to enter on Thursday morning. He was told that the Sheriff’s Office was inside investigating.

Mayor Pail Colvin confirmed there is an ongoing investigation.
