ST. LOUIS (AP) - A 15-year-old St. Louis girl who became the embodiment of gun violence in the city when she lost an eye in a drive-by shooting can now put away the eye patch.

KTVI-TV (https://bit.ly/1DlOX8m ) reports that Bruce Cook of the Anheuser-Busch Eye Institute made an artificial eye, at no cost, for Latasha Williams. The artificial eye was put in place Friday.

Latasha lost her left eye in September. She was buying treats as a reward for good grades when someone fired into the MV Market.

Cook has made more than 15,000 artificial eyes in the past 35 years. Latasha and her mother agreed after the three-hour procedure that the new eye looked as good as new.
