ST. LOUIS (AP) - Some property owners in an area of north St. Louis where the city hopes to place a national mapping agency have formed a new organization to fight eminent domain.

The group is called Save Northside STL. The organization is working with the public interest law firm Institute for Justice to oppose the city’s efforts to declare their properties blighted.

Aldermen are expected to vote Friday on a bill that would authorize condemnation of nearly 50 homes in the area where the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is considering.

The agency has long been housed near the Anheuser-Busch brewery in south St. Louis, but is moving. The north St. Louis location and three others in the St. Louis area are being considered.
