FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - National Park Service officials say the road through Denali National Park and Preserve will be plowed to mile 12 Saturday, weather permitting.

Opening part of the 92-mile Denali Park Road to private vehicles in the winter is a new program at the park.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (https://is.gd/18x0c2) reports that visitors using the road should expect ice and snow on shaded parts of the road.

The usual private vehicle turnaround at the Savage River at mile 15 is expected to be plowed in mid-April.
