TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police say no citations have been issued in a pedestrian accident in which a 5-year-old boy was killed.

Police say Alaa Mahmad was struck by a car when he broke free from his mother and ran into a traffic lane to catch up to his father.

The parents and two children were returning to their apartment complex after going grocery shopping Wednesday night.

The accident occurred on South Kolb Road near East 22nd Street but not at a crosswalk.

Police say the man driving the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
