VERNAL, Utah (AP) - Transportation officials in Uintah County are asking for an independent investigation in the wake of the recent resignation of the executive director of the board of its Transportation Special Service District.

District director Cheri McCurdy tendered her resignation in a Feb. 3 letter that was released hours before the board was scheduled to meet privately to discuss October’s resignation of McCurdy’s secretary, Chelsey Hunt.

The Deseret News reports (https://tinyurl.com/ll435xw) that board chairman Adam Massey read a prepared statement on Tuesday that said there have been “rumors and allegations of improprieties related to the two resignations.” He says the district has referred all information it has to the Uintah County Attorney’s Office and the Utah Attorney General’s Office. He declined further comment.
