CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina has lost reserve big man Desmond Hubert for the season to a knee injury.

The school says the 6-foot-10 senior hurt his right knee in practice last week and will need surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Hubert was averaging about 4 minutes per game and had scored just seven points, though Williams had played him for spot stretches in 21 games for his defense.

Hubert played in 113 games, including 18 he started during the 2012-13 season.

The No. 12 Tar Heels travel to Pittsburgh on Saturday.
