MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia forward Brandon Watkins suffered a left knee medial collateral ligament sprain during a breakout game Wednesday night in the Mountaineers’ win over Kansas State.

The university said Thursday the sophomore’s status is day-to-day.

The 6-foot-8 forward from Decatur, Georgia, had a career-high 14 points and nine rebounds in 17 minutes of action against the Wildcats. He had been averaging only seven minutes of playing time.

West Virginia (19-5, 7-4 Big 12) snapped a two-game losing streak in the 76-72 win over the Wildcats.
