NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Newark Police have charged a 15-year-old boy with shooting a man.

Officers were called to Kemper Drive about 9:40 p.m. Thursday for a reported shooting. A man was found with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators learned that a juvenile had been visiting the man and a police dog found a .25 caliber handgun near the residence.

The youth was charged with assault and other offenses.
