MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Cobb County prosecutors say a man has been sentenced for stabbing his wife and lighting a vehicle and house on fire.

District Attorney’s spokesman Kim Isaza said Friday that 57-year-old Juan Espinal was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors say Espinal stabbed his wife at least six times Dec. 20, 2013 and fled to another house. Prosecutors say Espinal set his car on fire there and the blaze spread to the home.

Prosecutors say Espinal walked from the scene, jumped off a bridge and was arrested.

Investigators say the woman’s daughter broke down a bedroom door to help her and found a note indicating that the attack had been planned.

Espinal said he attacked his wife because she had been insulting him and boasted about having an affair.
