MANNS HARBOR, N.C. (AP) - The N.C. Department of Transportation says the Currituck-Knotts Island ferry run is being suspended for one day to allow repairs to be made on both docks.

The Ferry Division said in a statement that service will be suspended on Tuesday after the day’s initial trips from both locations. Once the 6 a.m. trip from Currituck and the 6:50 a.m. trip from Knotts Island take place, the service will be closed.

The route is primarily used to transport school children, but with no school that day the impact is expected to be minimal. Regularly-scheduled service will resume Wednesday morning.
