WASHINGTON (AP) - Officials in Washington and Maryland are gearing up for predicted bitter cold and possible rain-snow mixes in the region.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office says more than 200 snow trucks will be deployed beginning at noon on Saturday. Officials say temperatures are expected to reach a low of 11 degrees late Saturday and early Sunday.

In Maryland, highway officials will be monitoring more than 400 traffic cameras as high winds, extreme cold and possibly 1 to 3 inches of snow.
