LINCOLN, N.D. (AP) - The embattled mayor of Lincoln says that what’s best for the city on the outskirts of Bismarck has always been his top priority.

A committee of residents unhappy with Bob Johnston’s leadership is trying to recall him from office. Opponents accuse him of misusing city money and ignoring water issues.

Johnston tells KXMC-TV (https://bit.ly/1F2e3v4 ) that he has done nothing wrong. He says, “every town has people that are not happy no matter what you do.”

Johnston says he won’t run for re-election when his term is up in 2016 - but that was a decision he made before hearing about the recall effort. If there is a recall election, he will be on the ballot.
