HOUSTON (AP) - Fire has damaged an Islamic community and education center in Houston at a time when the religious complex was unoccupied.

The Houston Fire Department says nobody was hurt in the fire around 5:30 a.m. CST Friday at the Quba (KOH’-buh) Islamic Institute.

Authorities are trying to determine what caused the blaze in a rear part of the structure. No damage estimate was immediately released in the fire that was put out within an hour.

A message left with the Quba Islamic Institute wasn’t immediately returned Friday. The organization’s website says the institute, which opened in 2013, offers community services and also operates an Islamic school.
