BOSTON (AP) - FBI officials say a man who escaped a Boston jail in 2008 is being returned to Massachusetts after being caught in Switzerland.

Authorities say federal agents escorted Wander Junior Vargas Canela on flight from Switzerland that was expected to arrive at Logan International Airport on Friday night.

Officials say Canela, also known as Wallis Torres, escaped in September 2008 from the Boston Pre-Release Correctional Center while serving a four- to seven-year prison sentence on a drug conviction.

The FBI and Massachusetts Department of Correction eventually discovered that Canela was in Switzerland, where he was arrested for possession of cocaine in April of last year.

Authorities say Canela will be returned to state custody and serve the remaining four years and four months of his drug sentence.
