OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) - About 1,200 firefighters from seven states are heading to Owensboro for three days of training next week.

The Green River Firefighters Association’s 2015 Bryant Stiles Officers School runs from Feb. 20 to 22.

Daviess County Fire Chief Dwane Smeathers is first vice president of the Green River Firefighters Association. He told the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1Ah65gs ) that all the training will be in classrooms. Thirty-six classes are scheduled.

The Kentucky Fire Commission and the Kentucky Association of Fire Chiefs will also meet in Owensboro the same weekend.

The school is named for Bryant Stiles, a former assistant chief with the McLean Volunteer Central Fire District who died in 2012. He had been behind the organizing and operation of the school since it began.
