GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A coroner plans has scheduled an inquest into the death of a western Pennsylvania man in an armed standoff at his western Pennsylvania home following a pharmacy robbery.

Westmoreland County Coroner Ken Bacha (BATCH’-ah) hopes the Feb. 19 hearing will determine whether 46-year-old Scott Murphy shot himself or was killed by police gunfire on July 18, 2013.

Police shot at Murphy to end the standoff at his Latrobe home after he wounded a state trooper in the eye - a shot that could have been fatal had the trooper not been wearing a helmet and face shield.

Murphy’s girlfriend, 27-year-old Julian Upholster, is scheduled for sentencing the same day on charges she stole two guns she gave Murphy to use that day.

The coroner says about 10 witnesses will testify.
