PEMBROKE, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a Rochester man was drunk when he drove his car into the rear of a Thruway snowplow traveling in the highway’s eastbound lanes outside Buffalo, killing the woman riding with him.

Troopers say the crash occurred around 3:45 a.m. Friday on Interstate 90 near Exit 48A at Pembroke, in Genesee County about 20 miles east of Buffalo.

Police say both vehicles were traveling east in the left lane when the car rear-ended the plow truck.

Troopers say 33-year-old Milagro Lopez-Cruz of Rochester was killed in the collision. Police say the car’s driver, 34-year-old Jermaine Vann of Rochester, was treated and released at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.

The charges against Vann include driving while intoxicated and driving without a license. Troopers say more charges are pending.

Troopers say their investigation is continuing.
