SHERIDAN, Wyo. (AP) - Wildlife officials are asking for the public’s help in finding out who illegally killed eight elk in northern Wyoming.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department said Friday that four bulls, three cows and a calf were discovered on a private ranch northwest of Parkman. The antlers, some of the heads and meat were removed from the elk at the scene, but seven of the eight animals had edible portions that were left to waste.

Dayton Game Warden Dustin Shorma called the killings “very disturbing,” saying the elk were vulnerable because they were on their winter range at the time.

Anybody with information about what happened can call the state’s poaching hotline at 1-877-WGFD-TIP (1-877-943-3847).
