CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Several of Dean Smith’s former players, friends and coaching colleagues will speak at next weekend’s public memorial for the Hall of Fame coach.

The school hasn’t released a full list of speakers for the Feb. 22 service honoring Smith, the retired North Carolina coach who died last weekend. But in a news release Friday, the school says doors will open at the campus arena bearing Smith’s name at 1 p.m. - an hour before the start time - and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The school says the program will last roughly two hours and attendees are allowed to bring in sealed bottled water.

The event will also be carried live online, and by several local TV and radio affiliates in the state.
