PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem has ended 2014 with about $800,000 in the bank.

Recently released 2014 year-end campaign finance reports show Noem raised nearly $2.4 million through the end of 2014 and spent more than $1.6 million.

Noem’s campaign consultant Justin Brasell says it’s her strongest start to an election cycle since the 2010 victory that put her in the U.S. House.

Brasell says the campaign is pleased with Noem’s fundraising and expanding margins of victory.

Noem is South Dakota’s lone U.S. representative and serves with Republican U.S. Sens. John Thune and Mike Rounds.

Kyle Kondik is a political analyst at the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics. Kondik says Noem is in solid shape for a re-election campaign in 2016.
