MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Members of a Vermont Senate committee looking at potential marijuana legalization say the question is not should Vermont legalize the drug, but how it should do so.

During a Friday afternoon meeting of the Senate Government Operations Committee, both Chairwoman Jeanette White and Sen. Joe Benning, the Senate Republican leader, said their attention should focus on the logistics of how a system of legalized marijuana would work in Vermont.

Benning said, “It’s coming.”

Senators considered questions including how to control access to marijuana by youth, how to regulate potency of the drug and how to deal with drug-impaired driving.

White said the panel would work on the questions surrounding marijuana for the next five Fridays.
