MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say the boyfriend of a woman found dead in her burning home in Mount Holly along with her teenage son has been charged with first-degree murder.

Gaston County Police said the obtained two first-degree murder warrants for 40-year-old Peter Rivers Jr. He was arrested Thursday at a hotel in Kingsland, Georgia, and waived extradition to North Carolina.

Authorities say 38-year-old Bridget Berry and her 17-year-old son, Treyvon “T.J.” Berry, were found dead after firefighters put out a blaze at their home Monday. Investigators say the mother and son died before the fire was intentionally set, but they have not released a cause of death.

It wasn’t known if Rivers had a lawyer.
