PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The Canada goose hunting season in South Dakota is coming to an end, while the light goose season is kicking off.

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department is reminding waterfowl hunters that the Unit 2 Canada goose season ends Sunday.

Meanwhile, the state’s 2015 Light Goose Conservation Order began Saturday and runs through May 3. The order is issued every year to control an overabundance of light geese.

The department says light geese generally migrate into the eastern third of South Dakota in late February to early March.
