DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Public Schools and Detroit Children’s Museum will hold a special Valentine’s Day program for district students and their families.

The “Get to the Heart of Black History” event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the museum.

Admission is free for children ages 4 to 10 and their families who will have a chance to explore the museum and learn about its artifacts.

They can attend a planetarium show and experiment in the museum’s Sound and Music Room. Activities also include literature reading, creating a living quilt that pays tribute to a family’s ancestry, and narrated bus tours of areas significant to black history.

The program is part of the school district’s Family Saturday series which offers a different theme each month at the museum.
