WASHINGTON (AP) - The District of Columbia is apologizing for more than 100 parking tickets that were written in error.

Radio station WTOP-FM (https://bit.ly/1vtXWhm ) reports that during a four-day window, 109 D.C. car owners who parked in the Dupont Circle neighborhood were improperly ticketed for failing to get their car inspected.

The radio station reports that the Department of Public Works has asked the Department of Motor Vehicles to void the tickets.

The radio station reports that the same enforcement officer wrote the problem tickets and the officer appears to have been hired within the last year.
