ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say heroin was found inside a car found stopped on the side of Interstate 77 on Rock Hill with a disoriented 28-year-old woman and her 1-year-old child inside.

Investigators told media outlets troopers were checking on the car near Exit 73 around 8 a.m. Friday when they found Allison Blanton slumped over with her child in her arms.

Authorities say they found seven packets of heroin, syringes, and doses of another prescription drug.

Investigators say Blanton and the child had been in the car in temperatures below freezing for several hours.

Blanton was charged with second offense possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of drugs, and unlawful conduct toward a child. It wasn’t known if she had an attorney.

The child was given to a family member.
