WASHINGTON (AP) - John Schoof drained six 3-pointers and scored a season-high 23 points to lead American University to an 88-77 victory over Lafayette on Saturday.

Schoof shot 8 of 15 from the floor, including 6-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc, and surpassed the 20-point margin for the second game in a row. Pee Wee Gardner scored 20 points, Jesse Reed had 19, and Kevin Panzer chipped in 15 with seven assists for American (14-12, 7-7 Patriot League). The Eagles shot 56.3 percent from the floor and 54.2 percent from long range.

The Eagles led by double digits most of the second half, with Lafayette (14-11, 6-8) pulling within eight with 4:35 to play.

Bryce Scott scored 24 points to lead four players in double figures for Lafayette. Dan Trist had a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards, but the Leopards were outrebounded by the Eagles 31-21.
