BLOOMFIELD, N.M. (AP) - A woman accused of shooting a man outside a grocery store in Bloomfield has made an initial court appearance.

The Farmington Daily Times reports (https://bit.ly/1MlSPKE) that 25-year-old Charmaine Lucero was ordered Friday held on $500,000 cash-only bond.

Lucero faces several charges including attempted first-degree murder and child abuse.

She has requested a court-appointed attorney.

Prosecutors say Lucero shot 26-year-old Cameron Burton in the left side of his face on Monday. He was hospitalized and released Tuesday.

Police say Lucero fled the scene in a vehicle occupied by her two children, ages 17 and 3, and another woman. According to a warrant, she was found and arrested about an hour later.

Lucero told police the victim had been yelling at her family and was approaching their vehicle when she shot him.
