CHICAGO (AP) - Heavy snow on the East Coast has led to cancelations at Chicago airports, while freezing temperatures locally also caused some minor delays.

The Chicago Department of Aviation says blizzard conditions in the eastern part of the country are primarily responsible for forcing the flight cancellations at the city’s two major airports.

It says more than 100 flights have been cancelled at O’Hare International Airport and more than 35 at Midway International Airport.

Icing issues at both airports were causing minor delays. The aviation department says some airlines at O’Hare were experiencing delays of around 15 minutes.

The National Weather Service says the Chicago area experienced some lake-effect snow during the day Sunday. Some areas reported reduced visibility.
