ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police say a man sought for questioning in a fatal shooting outside a gas station convenience store voluntarily left an apartment where he had been holed up.

Police say a SWAT team was preparing to enter the apartment Sunday when the man came out. He was taken to police headquarters and was being questioned.

The man was sought after a shooting outside the Holiday store at Old Seward Highway and Tudor Road.

Police say two men at 3:06 a.m. entered the store, argued and stepped outside. Witnesses heard shots fired. A wounded man was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at 6 a.m.

A police tracking dog led officers to Parkwood Inn Apartments. Members of SWAT team in late morning were negotiating with occupants in an apartment.
