AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Mainers who want to sign up for health insurance plans on the exchange had better act soon.

Sunday is the last day of the Affordable Care Act’s open enrollment session, which began Nov. 15.

Federal officials said last week that more than 66,000 Maine residents have picked up plans on the exchange. That includes new enrollees and people who are re-enrolling after signing up last year.

Harvard Pilgrim joined Maine Community Health Options and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield on the exchange this year, giving residents more options for coverage.

Assisters say that, overall, the enrollment session went smoothly. It was dramatically different than last year when glitches plagued the federal health care website for weeks, causing confusion and sign-up delays.
