LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A winter storm warning has been issued for parts of northwestern Oklahoma and western and central Arkansas as a strong weather system moves into the area.

The National Weather Service says a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain will impact much of Arkansas Sunday night and Monday.

Forecasters say the wintry precipitation will start off as sleet before switching over to snow, with heavy snowfall possible. Snowfall totals of between 4 and 6 inches with locally higher accumulations are possible.

A brief period of freezing rain will affect parts of central Arkansas before changing to sleet. Significant sleet accumulations are possible overnight through Monday.

In northeastern Oklahoma, up to an inch of sleet is possible along with up to 3 inches of snow from Sunday evening through noon Monday.
