DETROIT (AP) - Police say a boy found wandering in a neighborhood on Detroit’s east side has been reunited with his mother.

Officer Sandra Whitfield tells The Detroit News that the child was reunited with his mother Sunday evening. Officers on Sunday had sought help from the public in identifying the child, who was believed to be about 2 years old.

At the time he was found the National Weather Service says the temperature was about 6 degrees.

There was no immediate word about how the child ended up alone. Whitfield says Child Protective Services is handling an investigation.
