FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Officials say the University of North Alabama campus is closing at 3 p.m. due to winter weather conditions.

A notice on the school’s website posted Monday afternoon says offices will re-open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Classes will resume at 11 a.m.

The National Weather Service included the area in a winter storm warning that is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday.

Forecasters warn that travel in far northwest Alabama will be “very hazardous or impossible” due to ice and sleet.
