JACKSON, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say two employees were injured in a fire at the Procter & Gamble plant in eastern Missouri.

The Southeast Missourian ( ) reports the extent of the workers’ injuries and their condition weren’t immediately known Monday afternoon.

East County and Fruitland fire departments responded to the Jackson plant around 5 a.m. for a report of a fire.

East County Fire Chief Dwayne Kirchhoff says the blaze was contained by other employees by the time crews arrived. Kirchhoff says the incident began when a piece of equipment caught fire.

The newspaper says the plant manufactures products such as toilet paper, paper towels and diapers.
