LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The American Red Cross is reminding Arkansas residents to stay informed about bad weather and to have a plan ready to go in case of an emergency.

The agency says residents should monitor local forecasts, be prepared for power outages and check road conditions before driving in bad weather. Residents also should bring an emergency kit for the car and include items like a blanket, snacks and bottled water, among others.

A winter storm dumped snow and sleet on parts of the state on Monday, knocking out power to thousands of customers.
