LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - People headed to Kentucky airports on Tuesday should check on the status of their flights before leaving.

That’s the advice of spokeswoman Amy Caudill of Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport, where most flights were canceled Monday as heavy snow fell across the state. She spoke to the Lexington Herald-Leader, which reports airlines canceled dozens of flights to Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia and elsewhere.

The same was true at Louisville International Airport, where The Courier-Journal reports nearly half of the departing flights between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. were canceled because of the snowstorm.

Louisville airport spokeswoman Trish Burke agrees travelers should check on flight status before leaving for the airport.
