FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in Central California say a 26-year-old missing camper has been found dead at the bottom of a 300-foot cliff.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office says deputies recovered the body of Zachary Penn on Thursday.

Penn and several friends were camping at Tollhouse Road, a granite dome about an hour northeast of Fresno.

A caller reported to authorities Penn had walked away from the campsite late Wednesday and hadn’t returned.

Fresno officials say that before deputies arrived, Penn’s friends had found him at the base of a nearby cliff.

His body was pulled out of the area and taken to the Coroner’s Office.
