ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - A gap on Main Street in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, is going to be home to a conference center and banquet hall.

The Caledonian Record reports (https://bit.ly/1LgLScl) Lyndonville-based Rural Edge, a nonprofit housing and development organization, bought three burned out lots and an abutting apartment building on Prospect Street.

A 2009 fire at three commercial buildings created the space.

The proposed four-story building would include apartments on the upper three floors. St. Johnsbury Academy is interested in some of those apartments to house boarding students. It’s also interested in using the banquet hall to expand its culinary program.
