ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - A gathering at the University of Michigan aims to foster diversity among future scientists.

NextProf Science is an expenses-paid workshop scheduled for May 26-29 at the school’s Ann Arbor campus. Organizers say it’s aimed at future science faculty who are currently senior graduate students and postdoctoral trainees. The application deadline is Feb. 28.

The event aims to attract people with a commitment to diversity to the University of Michigan to demonstrate the benefits and rewards of an academic career, make connections with university faculty and academic leaders as well as for networking.

Travel within the U.S., lodging and meals will be provided. Additional details about the event are posted online.
