GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - A 34-year-old Gillette man has been sentenced to serve up to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting his estranged wife.

District Judge John R. Perry sentenced Matthew Worley to 12 to 30 years for sexual assault and four to five years for battery, to be served concurrently.

Worley was convicted in December of first-degree sexual assault and family violence battery. The battery charge was considered a felony because Worley had two previous convictions.

The Gillette News Record reports (https://bit.ly/1CPqTqF ) that prosecutors sought a 40- to 50-year sentence for the sexual assault and a three- to five-year sentence for the battery, to be served consecutively.
