LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A 31-year-old has been arrested after Lincoln police say he pointed a gun toward a convenience store after the clerk prevented him from stealing alcohol and cigarettes.

Lincoln police Capt. Danny Reitan says Brandon R. Wagner, of Columbus, entered a Kwik Shop just before noon Wednesday.

Reitan says the clerk denied a purchase for Wagner after he tried to use a credit card that was in someone else’s name. Wagner tried to leave with the items anyway, but the clerk confronted him and took them back.

Reitan says the employee called police after Wagner left the store. The clerk says he then saw Wagner outside holding the weapon with its barrel aimed at the store.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/1DxS6DM ) police arrested Wagner, who remained in jail Wednesday afternoon.
