LOS ANGELES (AP) - A lawsuit claims the Los Angeles Unified School District failed to prevent a boy from being bullied, leading to his attempted suicide.

City News Service says the negligence and battery suit was filed Wednesday on behalf of the boy’s mother.

The suit says the boy was 10 in 2013 when other students began harassing him at San Antonio Elementary School in Huntington Park.

The boy was pushed, kicked, followed and called names.

The suit says one harasser got detention but increased his bullying and school officials didn’t deal properly with the situation.

The suit says the boy eventually made a failed suicide attempt by putting a plastic bag over his head and still has psychological issues.

City News Service says a request for district comment wasn’t immediately answered.
