ATLANTA (AP) - Forecasters are expecting snow, sleet and freezing rain to coat parts of north Georgia.

A National Weather Service advisory goes into effect Friday afternoon and is expected to expire at 1 p.m. Saturday. Forecasters say parts of north Georgia - including metro Atlanta - could see up to an inch of snow and a thin layer of ice.

Forecasters expect snow to begin Friday evening before turning to freezing rain overnight.

Officials say the winter weather could cause hazardous driving conditions along with ice accumulations on trees and power lines - which could lead to power outages.

A Georgia Power outage map shows nearly 300 customers are still without service after a round of winter weather earlier this week. Georgia’s electric cooperatives also reported 12,400 customers without service Thursday afternoon.
