NORTH POLE, Alaska (AP) - A North Pole man was shot and killed Thursday at a home and a suspect has been arrested.

Alaska State Troopers say 41-year-old Matthew Davis was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of 34-year-old John “Adam” Chilcote.

Troopers say they took a call at 12:21 a.m. that a person had been shot in the home and that the caller was still in the house.

Troopers and North Pole Police officers rushed to the home and found Chilcote dead.

Troopers say Davis apparently broke into the home, ran to an upstairs floor and shot Chilcote as he called 911 and hid.

Davis turned himself in at the North Pole Police Department at 12:47 a.m., 26 minutes after the initial call.

An autopsy has been ordered.
