EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A longhaired black cat that was found with an arrow lodged in her body has recovered after emergency surgery and been reunited with her owners.

The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/JG2XY4 ) that the Greenhill Humane Society says the reunion came Tuesday. The injured cat was found Feb. 10 in Eugene.

The cat’s family asked to remain anonymous but said she’s about 11 years old and has been with them since she was a kitten. The family told humane society officials she was primarily an indoor cat and usually stayed close to home when she went outdoors.

They say they checked the humane society website and online classified ads when she disappeared. The owners say she was wearing a collar but her ID tag had fallen off.

From now on they say Mavis will be an indoor cat only.
