BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - A North Texas man has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison and ordered to repay nearly $4 million in a foreign currency scam.

Kevin G. White must report to federal prison in April. Prosecutors in Beaumont on Thursday announced the penalty for the 55-year-old Plano man.

White in December 2013 pleaded guilty to committing mail fraud in connection with commodity trading fraud.

Prosecutors say White operated Revelation Forex Fund in Plano, to conduct foreign exchange currency trading.

Investigators say White lured investors by overstating the past rate of return, falsely claiming the figures were audited and providing inaccurate details on how long the company was in business.
