SOMERVILLE, Maine (AP) - One person was hurt and several animals are presumed dead after a fast-moving fire destroyed a home and attached barn in Somerville.

Fire Chief Michael Dostie says the person who suffered the injury during the blaze reported at about 10 a.m. Sunday was run over by an animal trying to escape the barn. The person, who did not live at the home, was treated at the scene. No name was released.

The family that lives in the home was out.

Dostie tells the Kennebec Journal (https://bit.ly/1CpoGXD ) that the animals unaccounted for and likely dead include three dogs, three pigs and two goats.

The chief says the home and barn were leveled in less than an hour by flames that were fanned by a driving wind.

The cause remains under investigation.
