WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Police in Wilmington are investigating two deaths.

Police tell local news organizations that 38-year-old Frankie Stukes was found dead of a gunshot wound Saturday night.

Police say earlier in the evening, Stukes and another person tried to rob a man in a parking lot. They say the robbery victim shot back but was unaware that he had hit anybody.

Early Sunday, the body of 51-year-old Donnie Ward was found in an area where homeless people camp. Police said Ward appeared to have been beaten.

Police have charged 47-year-old Stacy Wayne Brown and 32-year-old Joy Hood with second degree murder. It was not immediately known if they had attorneys.
